Miraculously, the beautiful historic Chapel by the Sea on Captiva Island still stands after the devastation of Hurricane Ian on September 28, 2022.
However, the structure and property did sustain some damage that will be repaired in the coming weeks and months. This damage includes some significant issues with the Chapel’s belfry, flooring and the Cemetery’s fencing and vegetation.

Beautiful Chapel of the Sea Christmas Lights Before Ian
I had to include these beautiful photos of the Christmas lights of the Chapel of the Sea last year (2021) prior to Hurricane Ian. So charming! Looking forward to the day when we can enjoy these once again!
