1 Super Easy Way To Build Your Business While Homeschooling

Build Your Business While Homeschooling

Homeschooling or building your business; what are you going to do today?

That’s how it feels sometimes, right? That you have to choose between your business and homeschooling?

Though it’s popular in our culture to deride stay-at-home moms, I’ll tell you what…

They work harder than most of people who work 9-5.

When you add homeschooling, their job is 24/7!

Now throw building a home business into the mix, and it seems you don’t have a choice BUT to make a choice.

Homeschooling or business…

But what if there was a way to turn that “or” into an “and”?

Well, there is, and I’m going to share it with you in this post. I can’t promise that it will end the struggle with time management, but it is a great way to kill two birds with one stone.

Involve Your Kids

Including your children in your business is a powerful educational and business-building tool.

You should seek to involve them as early as possible, and as much as possible.

Not only is it a great means for them to learn business, math, economics, writing, people-skills, speaking, and more, it can take a lot of the pressure off of you, and free you up to do the tasks that only you can do.

However, in this post, I’m going to share with you one very specific task your kids can help you out with that will produce a win-win-win situation for you, your kids, and your customers!

Have Your Children Write Thank You Cards

A thank you card is what it sounds like.

It’s just a nice little hand-written card that you mail out to your customers to tell them “thank you” for ordering

Why Thank You Cards Help Your Business

People don’t get many letters in the mail these days, so an actual hand-written note is pretty cool.

A thank you card communicates that you really care about your customer, and will make them feel valued.

Plus, the handwritten note reminds them about your business, and keeps you fresh in their mind.

And to top it all off, the card is written by a child, your child! What is more cool than that? You’ll probably get more than a couple “awww”s in response.

You Want To Take Care of Your Customers

A lot of the people we mail thank you cards out to end up purchasing again!

According to Marketing Metrics, you only have a 5-20% chance of selling to a new prospect, while you have a 60-70% chance of selling to an existing customer.

So take care of your customers, and they will take care of you!

Why Thank You Cards Help Your Kids

If you are homeschooling your kids, you are probably already assigning them some handwriting exercises or “copy work”.

It’s tedious, and a bit boring, I just gotta say. I remember doing copy work when I was being homeschooled, it wasn’t my favorite thing to do!

But not only does writing thank you cards give your children handwriting practice, but it also makes it a lot more fun!

Now there is a point and a purpose to their handwriting. They are contributing to the family economy, and helping the business!

Major, the youngest Ramm child, once wrote a thank you card that resulted in an order that was over $100. He was then praised for his good work, and awarded with being able to pick some candy out during the next shopping trip.

He saw first hand the value of handwriting, got a sense of fulfillment from helping the family, and also got a tasty reward as a result.

If that’s not one of the most awesome ways to homeschool I don’t know what is!

But Don't Stop There!

Another great benefit of this strategy is that you can use it to teach your kids responsibility.

Put them in charge of the whole operation!

Make them responsible for finding out what customers need a thank you card, writing the card, packaging the card, and then mailing it. Start to finish, make them run the whole process.

Again, not only will they be learning the valuable skills of packaging and addressing mail, but they will feel part of the family business, and will see the fruits of their labor…

If you show them! Make sure to let them know when their efforts have resulted in a sale, or any other positive results.

Get Them Started Now!

Don’t waste any time! Go ahead and start training your children how to write thank you cards to your customers. If you are already doing this, it will be one less task you have to do.

If you are NOT already doing this, well, you’ll probably start seeing some old customers repurchasing.

A simple script you can have your child use is:

Dear [customer name],

I just wanted to write and say thank you for being a loyal [your company] customer. My family and I sincerely appreciate your business. Please let me know if there is ever anything I can do to help you. Many blessings, [your name, and your child’s name & age]

It’s important to include both your name, your child’s name, and your child’s age.

This is because if you are building your own personal brand, then they should recognize your name, and this card will help contribute to your brand.

But you also want to make it clear that your child wrote this letter, and adding an age helps make it more personal.

All combined, handwritten thank you cards are a powerful way to build your brand, build an emotional connection with your customers, and teach your kids handwriting.

So get started write now! (Pun intended)

And when you do, go ahead and take a picture of your child’s note and post it in the comments below! We would love to see them!

Building a true family home business

Involving your kids in your network marketing business is a great way to start down the path of truly having a family home business.

However, there are still other obstacles. If you are like most network marketers, you’re probably still caught up in the old school ways of building your business: home parties, grocery store prospecting, making phone calls, and bugging friends and family.

We didn’t utilize any of these strategies when we built a team of over 5,000 reps and earned a full-time income with our family network marketing business.

Instead, we built online using a strategy known as attraction marketing. Instead of chasing after uninterested people, we had highly qualified leads reaching out to us…all from home!
