Well, a business can have a lot of purposes. However, its main reason for existing is (or at least should be) to serve a specific target audience.
There should be a specific group of people whom your business exists to serve. Serve is a key word here.
Whatever those in your target audience (market) need, you want to provide. Whatever pains they have, you want to help them get rid of them. You want to help them achieve their desires.
If you do this, you will have a successful business.
But that just leaves one problem...
